This week we arrive at the birth of Jesus Christ. After more than a thousand years of waiting for the son born of a virgin woman in Bethlehem, the promises of Scripture have come to pass. Just as God foretold through the prophets, the Savior enters the world in humble circumstances to peasant parents. Often, the story of Christmas has some additions that are likely untrue, as well as glossing over the very human and real struggles that Mary and Joseph faced. Our intent this week is to sand some of the varnish off the story to get back to it’s raw reality as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ at Christmas.
